Publication Ahead?
Hey!
As most of you know, I am on a constant mission to get my work published. I can’t help it; it’s what I want to do with my life. Well, a few months ago, I sent my manuscript out to a publisher for consideration. First I sent a synopsis and sample and then, after they requested it, the full manuscript.
Yesterday, I got the feedback and while it WAS a rejection… it was probably one of the most encouraging I’ve gotten. The letter read:
Thank you for the chance to review your story. Although it is entertaining and unusual, I just don’t have room for it in our line-up now. We’re currently overstocked in works of this length. Do you have anything in the range of 50-80k to show me? That’s where our need is greatest right now. I would welcome the chance to see more of your work. You’re an inventive writer and your prose has lots of energy.
So, I responded and told the publisher that I had some things in the works and asked if they would like to see a draft when I am finished. They responded with a yes and asked me to send my manuscript as soon as I was happy with it–around august time as the publisher will be traveling until then. Happy day for me!
I also decided that since they liked the manuscript so much, I could chance sending it out to other publishers and have since sent it out to two different publishers in hopes of a bite. I will keep everyone informed on my progress.
Hopefully you can all be buying my novels sometime next year.
