Happy Howliday

Hello Friends,

I hope you enjoyed the last video. If you are enjoying the writing videos, please, let me know… and vice versa. I would like to know what’s working with my readers… and if you don’t like something, I want to fix it!

That being said, I hope everyone is enjoying their howliday weekend! I know I am…. I’ve read two books and done some hardcore sleeping–which was needed! It’s back to the daily grind tomorrow, but there are only 3 weeks of school left–which means 3 more weeks of work for me!

I have yet to find full-time summer work, but I will at least have some things to get me by. WOooohoooo!

Anyway, I really don’t have anything else to share as of right now. So, enjoy these videos on writing.

Poetry and Dropping

Hello Friends,

Thank you to those who took the time to view my newest published works! Not only that, thank you for supporting the two literary magazines as well! They are both excellent and worth a look if you haven’t yet had the chance. (Links to The Writer’s Eye Magazine and Nefarious Ballerina can be found in the previous post.)

I also wanted to take a moment to let all of you entrecard droppers know that I have not abandoned my duties and I will be dropping back as soon as possible! Things have been hectic here with moving and life in general! Thank you for your patience and I appreciate your continued interest in my blog.

I am happy to announce that my blog readership has been steadily increasing every month. So, thank you once again for reading my randomness; it is much appreciated!

I realize that the April Book List still hasn’t made an appearance and I am sorry for that as well, but I will get to it soon! Promise.

For now, enjoy another writing tutorial.

Advice On Writing

Since I’ve had a great response from readers in regards to the last video series I posted, I’ve decided to  post another video on writing. This one addresses thesis and dissertation writing.

So, for those of you struggling with these HUGE projects. Here is some advice for you!

Take it from someone who has gone through the grueling process of writing a thesis, this info may help! It took me forever to churn out my own thesis and when I look back I still think I could have done better… obviously it was acceptable but I don’t feel as if it was my best!

Other Writing Blogs

lookpigtails.jpg

So, I just went to check out some of the “top 100 writing blogs,” and really there is no difference between their blogs and my own.

Some write about their own upcoming projects, deadlines, novels.. which is something I do on a smaller scale as my writing isn’t quite as well known as some. (Not yet anyway!)

Some write book reviews… which is something I don’t generally do on my blog, that’s what Suite101 is for. I do, however, provide links to the reviews that I do pen.

Others write about the process of writing and how to improve upon your own personal work. I try to do this, but then I always get distracted and wind up talking nonsense. I will make a promise to try and deliver a bit more of the instructional stuff. Believe it or not, I am actually a competent and thoughtful writer. Who knew? I only have 2 degrees in the field. No biggie.

The remainder of the creative writing blogs focus on freelancing and how to make money doing it. I don’t really know much about this aspect of writing, but it isn’t my niche. So, I’m not worried.

Let’s boost readership and get my blog on the list! Or at least fail miserably after giving it a shot.

A Short Note…

crazy.jpg

It seems like everyone and their brother wanted to blog about the Swine Flu. I am glad I did it in a different manner than most… as mine was related to the topic of this blog, but we will put that behind us.

At the moment, I am hitting back all of the entrecard droppers… I know I’ve been lagging, but everyone will get their drops today.

The April Book List WILL be up soon, I promise. Hang in there and I’ll make sure the new content keeps coming.

Here is a podcast from Scottish writer Keith Gray! Interesting stuff, more to follow.

Swine Flu and The Stand

Hey Gang,

I don’t really want to get into the politics of this whole ’swine flu’ pandemic because I probably won’t shut up, but I was thinking about the ordeal this morning and it reminded me of “The Stand” by Steven King.

I am probably over-dramatizing the situation… but what do you expect from a slight hypochondriac writer? Seriously people, come on!

Anyway, if you haven’t read “The Stand,” I strongly suggest it. It’s a fantastic novel. Though, if you’re not into reading huge tomes, the mini-series was also admirable.

So, basically, this super flu sweeps the nation (the whole planet…) and people start dying off, but not in small amounts as with our Swine Flu problem… the people from “The Stand” were dying by the millions.

Though, there were certain people who seemed to be immune to the sickness. We’re talking a few hundred people–no more. These people began having dreams. They would either dream of an old woman named Mother Abigail or of a “Dark” man. The dreams gave them a location and beckoned them to go.

So, the remaining citezens began trekking towards one of the two figures from their dreams. Basically, Mother Abigail was a spokeswoman for god and the “dark” man was the devil in the flesh. They were gathering the remaining people to form armies as a war between good and evil was to be the culminating event of the novel.

It really is quite good and I urge you guys to check it out. My descirption is meager at best, but you get the point. I guess this whole swine flu thing had me thinking way beyond the scope of the illness. Oh well, it’s still a good book suggestion.

In other news, the April Book List will be up and running soon. Probably tonight or tomorrow. So, keep a look out for that…I believe there are 7 books on the list this time! Yea!

Until later…
