Failure To Launch!

Dear Friends,

Obviously my pleading for submissions isn’t doing the trick! Thank you to those who have made an attempt to participate in my prompts. Please continue to do so… and tell you friends. Perhaps we can drum up some enthusiasm!

The prompt in the previous entry is still open. So, if you haven’t posted your response yet, please do! Follow the directions and leave feedback for your fellow writers as well!

Let’s see: I am still awaiting responses from a few literary mags on some poetry I’ve submitted and I still have a manuscript out to a publisher. Hopefully they like it! I am planning to turn it into a series and with any luck I’ll be able to start the second instillaton in the near future!

Look forward to my “Sexy Shifter” novellas!

You may also be looking forward to the April Book List. I am on book 8 right now. So, you’ll get a nice set of books to peruse. I am thinking about letting everyone choose one of my suggestions to read and then give me their feedback on the book…. maybe adding them to an archive of book reviews? What do you think? Leave your thoughts in a comment on this thread.

It’s Been A While…

Since you’ve looked at my mug… didn’t want you to forget what I look like!

dscn16733.jpgdscn16733.jpgdscn16733.jpgdscn16733.jpg

Ok. I realize, I’ve been slacking here. Though, you guys have been slacking too! I want to see some writing people! How are we supposed to start an active writing community if you, the readers, don’t want to show off your work?

So, let’s get prompty. This will be easy. Write a 5 line, free verse poem and post it as a comment. Then, if we get enough poems, I want you to each comment on at least one other poem. Fair?

Enjoy some Ferlinghetti and get writing… or else!

Funny Little Bit of Info

Hey!

So, as you know, I’ve been catching up on my writing for The Suite. I mentioned author Karen Chance in two of my articles (though I got some info wrong in one of them,,,whooppss)…

By the by, if you haven’t had a chance to check out her writing, do so! She’s great! It’s awsome fantasy with a kickin’ leading lady.

Anywho, I got an email from the author herself telling me how much she liked my article… how cool? Didn’t think people actually read my writing! I guess I was wrong.

That is all.

–Leave me some love!

Here’s a video trailor of one of Karen Chance’s books:

Posting Frenzy — New Suite101 Articles

Hey Friends,

I hope you’ve all taken the chance to visit the “Nefarious Ballerina” website. If not, be sure to do so in the near future.

I know I promised you a review on Sparks’ vampire novels–and I will deliver, but in the mean time, go ahead and check out my new Suite101 articles! They are both on paranormal romance novels.

Check them out and let me know what you think! I also have an article on “J. Alfred Prufrock” coming up in the near future. I have 7 more articles to write by the end of the month, so, I will be sure to keep everyone informed.

Be sure to read the entry below this one… there is a writing prompt that I would like everyone to at least consider.

Thanks guys… I will post again soon.

Nefarious Ballerina Issue 2

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to pop in with some great news! Issue 2 of Nefarious Ballerina is now live! So, if you’d like to read my latest published poetry, please visit the magazine and take a look. I believe my poem spans page 18-19 ofIssue 2.

Even if you’re not interested in reading my latest creative attempt, take a look at the zine and support all of it’s contributers.

I would like to warn everyone that the content is mature. It is a magazine for the intelligently erotic. There is nothing smutty about it, it is just adult in nature. So, if that isn’t your think you may want to skip this one. Otherwise…enjoy!

Rawr!

Hello my lovelies,

I am back again-and so soon! You should be proud of me. I’ve noticed the site views are going down this month and we’re going to have to remedy that situation! I love having my visitors–especially when they leave comments.

The addition of  the shout box was a great idea because people are more inclined to drop a line when they pass through. Which is wonderful… but I would also like to receive some comments on the threads…especially in response to writing prompts!

There are a few of you that consistently post responses (Rave) but I would like everyone out there to post their creative responses. That is, after all, one of the goals of this blog (even if you may not realize it…as I do tend to go off the path every now and then.)

So, first I would like to post a hilarious video for you to enjoy. This one has nothing to do with writing or writers; I just came across it and decided that I should share it with as many people as possible.

Now that you’ve been entertained… I’d like to prod your creative talents. So, I would like everyone to do some work with personification. Take any household appliance or item and give it a human story. Post your stories (or poetry) as a comment on this thread! I really do want to promote a community of writers to share their work with one another as well as their feedback on the posted work. Feel free to post rough drafts as no one here is being graded. Most of all, have fun and write on!

Easter Goodness!

Hey guys!

I just wanted to hop on here and wish everyone a happy easter (or zombie jesus day–to some)! I hope everyone is having a relaxing day at home with family or loved ones–regardless of whether or not you actually celebrate the holiday.

I am racing through the Kerrelyn Sparks series…I’ve downed 4 thus far…and I’m also reading the Karen Chance series. So, next month’s reading list should be spectacular. I will shut up for today, but enjoy the rest of the evening.

March Book’s Read List and Other Things

Hey Guys,

It looks like my computer is behaving–at least for the moment. I’d like to take this time to thank all of you for sticking with me. If you’ve dropped some EC in the past week, it should now be returned. If for some reason I’ve missed your drop, let me know in a comment and leave a link so I can drop back! I don’t want to leave anyone out.

Also, if you haven’t yet–read the entry below this one and vote for MOURNING SON! It would really mean alot to me! Thanks in advance.

As for the writing world, I am still plunking away and awaiting word from a few magazines/journals and publishers on various projects I’ve sent out! I will make sure to keep everyone informed. The new issue of NEFARIOUS BALLERINA should be up shortly and it will feature 2 photos and 1 poem by yours truly! Make sure to check it out when it appears… I know Gordon has been hard at work on the new issue for a long time.

That being said, here is your March list…. as I had previously noted… April’s list will be much longer. Please let me know what you think of the new format. I know I’ve posted some changes to your monthly book list and if you like them, please let me know. If you prefer the old lists with my personal opinions and ratings, let me know. I’d really like any feedback you may have on the subject! As always, leave feedback as a comment on this entry. Thanks.

March Book List

  •  Blood Bound - Patricia Briggs

This is the 2nd book in the “Mercy” series. Mercy is a “walker” or a “were-coyote” / mechanic whose unique condition has her smack in the center of a paranormal war facing down a dangerous sorcerer turned were. Unlike most novels, this one is written in the 1st person narrative style. There is much controversy over the effectiveness of this method, but I personally enjoyed the style.

  • How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire - Kerrelyn Sparks

This novel is the first installation in the “Love at Stake” series. (If you’re interested, I will be posting an article about my likes/dislikes of the series… I am currently on book 4) This is the tale of Shanna Whelan–a psychic dentist who finds herself the target of the Russian vampire contingent–aka the malcontents. Unlike friendly vamps, these killers are out for blood. Whelan, under strange and hilarious circumstances, finds herself under the protection of one of the world’s most prestigious vampire masters, Roman Dragonesti. Despite her pre-conceived notions on vampires, Shanna is strangely drawn to Dragonesti who returns this curious compulsion… does romance blossom?

  • More Of Me Disappears - John Amen

Amen’s sophomore poetry collection is full of poignant verse, laughter and tears.  This collection pulls the reader in many different directions–intimate, angry, loving and spiteful. It is a wonderful observation of humanity and the human experience seen through the eyes of a poet.

  • Beast of Darkness - List Renee Jones

Max is a demon and though demons are roughly criticized, they are not all evil. Max is a White Knight–rather a good demon who protects the human race and his demon contemporaries. Max, however, is one of the oldest demons–and as they ages, demons lose their humanity–unless they find a mate. Sarah–a human with the power to talk to the undead may be the solution to Max’s dilemma–if he will let her get close enough.

That’s all for now.<3Me

Do Some Voting!

Hey Guys,

This isn’t my usual genre of posting, but my friend’s band is in a contest (I know, I know… bear with me on this one!) and they need to be in the top ten for a shot at playing SUMMERFEST in Milwaukee, WI.

They are currently 12th place and need a little over 1,000 votes to move up to the top 10. You can vote 10x/per e-mail address (up to 2 e-mail addresses from one ip address/day)… and you can vote everyday… should you choose.

So, if you would…visit this site and vote for MOURNING SON!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it.
