Un-political

Dear Bloggers and Blogreaders,

It seems that most of the blogs I’ve stumbled upon today have been very politically geared, (with good reason) but aside from expressing my boundless joy at the hope of a better future for the country, I will not get into it. Welcome President Obama, I am happy to have witnesses another moment in history.

That being said, let’s move on to other things. I want to leave the world, not with a clip from the inaugural adress, but from The Buk himself.

First off, “MOXY” is a great word. Second, I am with Bukowski almost all the way here (Granted, he is slightly intoxicated in this clip). I sometimes hated studying classical poetry because it was so dense, even if profound or richly textured. In the past, it was a preconcieved notion that poetry needed to be pretensious, it needed to rhyme and it needed to sound pretty and that is not the case. I find that my favorite poets are realistic and gritty, they say actual things that real people can connect to and that is important.

Bukowski is vastly under appreciated!
